theBalm Cosmetics Launches in Karachi!

Yay! Good news! theBalm is finally here!!! The brand famous for its kinky names and pictures on the packaging. The brand that is midway between highend and drugstore. Yes, the products come with a bit of a steep price tag but what’s inside, in my opinion, has always been worth it.

So this is what the website says about their history:

theBalm cosmetics boasts a complete line of makeup, skin care, hair care and nail polish. With a “beauty in five minutes” philosophy, theBalm’s multi-use, mega fabulous products have become its calling card, offering quick fixes and wondrous solutions for a wide range of beauty wants and needs. The company’s wearable colors and fantastic formulas allow women to release their inner artist so they can look and feel fabulous. In 2004, Marissa Shipman, founder of theBalm, realized there were a few simple products she needed to help her look and feel glam all the time-and if she needed them, other women did too… Marissa decided to indulge her cosmetic curiosities and went to Amazon where she bought 11 books on how to make makeup and started mixing in her kitchen. “I went makeup crazy. I incorporated the company, worked out a budget, hired a chemist and designed a website.” She began integrating anti-aging ingredients, triple-milled pigments, fabulous scents…and theBalm was born. Fast forward ten years, you can now find theBalm’s Paraben and Cruelty-Free products worldwide.

Wow, Marissa sounds like a person I’d like to chill with! Oh my God you guys, I’m not even just saying this because I’m a blogger and like I attended the event and all, but like I’m a sucker for packaging and these guys never fail to lure me into their mystical world of pin-up characters. Their packaging screams ‘you want me, you know you do Zenia’. And I’m like ‘erm no’. And then it goes ‘YES YES YES!!’
Well you know who wins the argument eventually -_- (ps its not me!?)

theBalm products I own
Not even just the packaging, the product itself and the feeling that you’re investing in something that’s worth it is so satisfying.

Ok so I must admit I was an hour late, but I didn’t miss much so YAS, no guilt!

Me on my way to the event, wearing theBalm Mary Loumanizer
As I enter Scentsation in Dolmen City Mall, Clifton, I see lots of traffic. As I make my way further into the store, I see the pink stall with all sorts of colorful makeup products neatly organized atop: Blushes, Bronzers, lipsticks, lipglosses, eyeshadow palettes, concealer, foundation, brushes, etc (my insides are screaming with excitement. OK Zenia, control yourself. The makeup stays. Relax.)

I can’t see the beauty blogger squad anywhere, so it’s getting a little awkward. Anyhow, I push myself a little further through the crowd to see an adorable dressing table filled with theBalm products and a makeup artist named Sarah Ali working her ‘beauty in five minutes’ magic on a model who’s sitting there. I watch the demo for a bit and FINALLY spot the squad. Maha, Maliha Rao, Bakhtawar, Farah, Shumaila, Ana, Anila, Sana Nbi, Fatima and Gul e Zehra (met these two for the first time) are standing here! Maha and I catch up over some pink lemonade since we thoroughly enjoy each others company.

Beauty Bloggers take a selfie!

As I casually walk around chatting and giggling away, amidst the humongous crowd, the real star of the show catches my eye: THE CAKE! A beautiful beautiful fondant cake surrounded by pink fondant topped cupcakes and a dispenser for the pink lemonade.

As Maliha calls us outside the store for pictures (since theBalm set their background up there for the pictures), I see lots of Pakistani celebs! As far as I remember, there was Sarwat Gillani, Ahsan Khan Behroze Sabzwari, etc.

Adeel Feroze -Brand Manager

We stand with Sarwat and Adeel (the brand manager for theBalm Pakistan) and pose for like ten cameras (aye celeb moment!!!) and stay still long enough for my cheek muscles to start hurting because smiling needs effort! Also, I have a picture face (atleast I’m honest :D)

Superstar moment!
And of course All is well that ends well, and an ending with goodiebags HAS to be a good ending.

Beauty Blogger Selfie no.2

As we depart from the venue, we’re handed these adorable bags with a theBalm Cosmetics mug (its so pretty I can’t even use it without the fear of it breaking. And the thought haunts me) and four OH MY GOODNESS little baby theBalm powders: FratBoy Blush, Balm Desert Bronzer, Instain Blush in lace, and Hot Mama blush in it.

I can’t bring myself to use these. They’re too cute to be used. Mini sample versions of the normal products. Haye<3

As I’m on my way home, I’m thinking to myself, what a good day! Alhamdulillah:)

I’m so glad I can finally go buy things in person by testing it instead of taking the risk online!

Hope you enjoyed reading and you go check out their crazy range of products too!
